Domestic Violence Resources
Domestic Violence [or Intimate Partner Violence (IPV)] affects millions of people in the in the Unitec States each year. According to the CDC’s National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Survey (NISVS), about 41% of women and 26% of men experience contact sexual violence, physical violence and/or stalking by an intimate partner.[1]
Below are just a few of the resources available to those experiencing domestic violence:
National Domestic Violence Hotline –Confidential resource. Advocates are available 24/7 to discuss choices and options and help determine what is best for the caller’s specific situation. 800-799-SAFE (7233).
SafeHouse Denver –24/7 crisis and information line. SafeHouse Denver serves local survivors of domestic violence and their children by providing emergency shelter, counseling and advocacy, support groups and referrals to other services. SafeHouse also provides community education to promote awareness of domestic violence. 303-318-9989
Rose Andom Center – This organization provides victims of domestic abuse a variety of resources, including advocacy on planning a path to safety, support for children who have experienced trauma from domestic violence, assistance in the civil and criminal legal system surrounding domestic abuse, medical care (in partnership with Denver Health) and counseling services. The Center is open Monday through Thursday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and Friday 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.
Rocky Mountain Victim Law Center – A nonprofit law firm that provides free legal services to victims of crime in Colorado. 303-295-2001.
The Family Tree – This organization provides services to victims and survivors of domestic abuse as well as to those experiencing homelessness. They provide emergency residential services, counseling, case management and advocacy.
TESSA –Located in Colorado Springs, TESSA offers confidential support and services for those experiencing domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking or human trafficking. TESSA provides shelter, support and resources for survivors and their children. 24 hour safe line: 719-633-3819.
